Just because something is politically impractical doesn’t make it unworthy. It just means you have to turn the heat up in the debate. A 1.5:0.5 party system is better than a two party one.
Well there's nothing to stop individuals agreeing on things, but that wouldn't be a consensus between parties. You could call your idea "the 1.5 consensus". It's probably quite helpful to have a term like that, because then we could move on to discuss what such a consensus actually does or should consist of.
